We are the proud new entrants of the prius waiting list. Yes, we are buying a new car, and it will be a couple of months before ours comes in. It was a rough day. We started out at the local Honda dealer, to look at the civic and the fit. Those folks are terrible. They were everything you really hate about car dealers. They gave us a price that was unreasonably inflated. And they kept telling us they couldn't negotiate because they were not making a profit. And they wouldn't take off the "optional" extras. So, a couple of hours later, we left, frustrated and annoyed. Drove up to the next town, had lunch, and went to Toyota, expecting the worst. There have been numerous reports of dealers jacking up prices, and just being sleazy. We had done our homework, we know what the standard rates are. We were so pleasantly surprised by this Toyota dealer. The salesperson was personable and pleasant. He quoted us the same exact price we had researched. He didn't try to sell us a lot of junk we don't want or need. (No, really, we don't want hand painted detailing. No!) So we did add on one little set of options, the smart key, the sound system and mp3 adaptor. So now we wait. We ordered a silver car, but told them we would take the first available.

This is the first brand new car we will have ever owned.

I also looked at the Scion Xd and the Yaris...future considerations for replacing my car once it dies!
