Grandma's Journal My Journal I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend. |

Read/Post Comments (1) I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always. |
2009-04-26 6:37 PM Wow what a great Weekend! Got the news on Thursday that DesiRay was finally approved to go visit her Aunt Becky. So it was a rush to figure out how to work the pre-school, and mom. Got it all figured out, and we (Amy, Carson, DesiRay and I) were on our way out of town on Friday afternoon around 4pm...
Saturday morning brought us to the prison under sunshine and high hopes for a great visit. We were met at the doors with the Red Carpet Treatment! Everyone was very accombadating, and appoligies were said on the behalf of the Washington State Correctional Center for taking so long and all the problems we had on getting DesiRay approved! Amy had talked with the Visiting Staff on Thursdaqy not once but twice, and she was assured that anythong she wanted would be taken care of. She wanted a special visit with her sister on Saturday morning, as she got it...as we walked in the front door, they were doing all of the paper work for the special visit!!! and I am not kidding... The officer that help make this all happen was Office Brown, and we have been dealing with him many many years! So he knows us inside out, and he made sure everyone knew that we were to be treated with TLC.... We got to our first visit, and waited for Becky. I saw her walking down the walkway to visiting, and say her walk by the window, then I saw her walk into the building, and stand at the door to be opened, and then she saw me and her hands went to her mouth, and she started crying...she knew why I was there! It finally dawned on her why she was getting woke up from her sleep and told that she had a special visit. Officer Brown forget to tell her that she was getting a special visit on Saturday from her family! Becky said she was trying to figure out why she had a special visit as it wasn't her regular visiting hours, but was still groggy and nothing was making since to her.... Her first visit with her neice was wonderful, and she was blown away at how beautiful DesiRay is! Becky held her, fed her, and changed her clothes (which is a NO NO) but they let her do it Oh yes that was the first time we had really ever been able to surprise Becky, and we got her just as we saw her...she was still in her Pj's, but had time to brush her teeth, and run the brush through her hair....NO make-up! It was great! After our first visit, Amy and the kids and I went to Fashion Bug to find a dress for Amy to wear to her sister in laws wedding. She finally found one that makes her look just priceless! Then we had time to eat at Panda Express and then back to the prison for our last visit. This visit was a great at the first. Except Becky had time to prepare...she managed to get in a shower, and put on fresh clothes, and make-up. DesiRay enjoyed telling her Auntie Becky stories and gave her lots of smiles! We drove back to Kerry's house where we feasted on home made spagehitti, french bread, and dump cake. We had good conversations, beer, screwdrivers and lots of laughs. Got up before the birds this morning and drove home. Amy drove, and the kids and I slept! Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
