Grandma's Journal My Journal I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend. |

Read/Post Comments (3) I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always. |
2009-05-11 9:53 AM Mother's Day came and gone Nothing happened here at my house for Mother's Day...It seemed like everyone forgot about me...I waited all day for something but nothing came. This isn't like my family at all! They never forget!
I did it a brown lunch bag with some sugar free chocolates in it from Amy, but she never even said "Happy Mommy's Day to me"... I ran to town to do a little food shopping and to find something for my Mom for Mother's Day, and looked at the time and saw that I was running behind schedule a little, so I called Neil to make sure he was up and out the door for work, and He didn't even say Happy Mother's Day to me...I was deflated!!! When I got home there was not even a card, and that isn't like my husband! I gave my mom her mother's day gifts, (I picked up 2 chair cushions for the kitchen chairs that are leather). she can never decide which chair she wants to sit in, so I went out and got 2 new cushions. She seems to like them! After I cooked dinner for Mom, I gave her a shower and took off all those stupid monitor tabs. Her poor chest, breasts, and arms were blistered as they had left them on way to long...why don't they take them off when they are done using them? Got a call from my daughter's wife "Candace" and she wished me a Happy Mother's Day! Fianlly someone remembered! She also told me that I had a package coming, and she was sorry that it was coming late, but I should get in on Tuesday! Now I am really happy! She has never forgotten Mother's Day and I was really afraid that she would this year! But my dear daughter in law didn't! So now I have to sit here and show some patience and wait! I don't wait so good sometimes! One slept through the night, which means I got a half way good nights sleep...would of been better if I was not trying to cough up a damn hair ball half the night! Tonight is my night to cook, and I am assuming that we will Celebrate Mother's Day tonight, and I have planned to cook Taco's and Amy said she was doing dessert! So off I go to do my daily household chores, make mom's bed, put away dishes, and vacuume the carpets. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
