Grandma's Journal My Journal I became a Grandma at the age of 49 years old. Well I was actually only 17 days from being 50. My baby girl gave me gave me my first grandchild. He was a beautiful bouncy boy. Then 2 years later she surprised me on my birthday at 5am by waking me up and telling me "Happy Birthday Mom!" Time to get up we are going to the hospital and having a baby today! I told her NO that's tomorrow. It took a little bit for her to get it through my groggy head that she was going to be giving me a birthday present! and she totally did. She gave me a dark hair beautiful little grand daughter. Now I can enjoy spoiling 2. I have decided that the best thing in the world is being a Grandma! There is nothing that come close to that! I have been married for 30 years to a man that lives for his family. He only wants the best for all of us and spoils us all! He is a good man that works hard for his dollar. We have a pretty good marriage to say the least. Well it must be if we can put up with each others faults this long! My mom who has Alzehimers lives with us and has been for almost 3 years now. She is in the finally stages of the disease and still hangs in there. She loves to grab the broom and sweep. She does this everyday, and several times a day. I keeps her busy. She will even sweep the counch or the kitchen table if you let her. My oldest daughter is going to be 34 years old this year and hasn't lived at home in 16 years. I spend as must time as I can with her. But it is never enough. She plans on coming home to live and take care of us in 7 years. I cant wait! It's my dream to have her home. She is a dear friend to me and we have a great relationship. she always tells me that I am her best friend. |

Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (0) I love Lighthouses, and I collect them. I added a beautiful homemade lighthouse quilt to my collection in November 2008. A friend of my oldest daughter made it for me, and she did a beautiful job. I will treasure it always. |
2009-05-16 5:49 PM Mom has had a good several days! Yesterday I got mom up and we went to the Dr. Office so they could take her blood to test her count...then it was off to Walmart for some quicking shopping for some juice and a few supplies for mom...We met my sister at I-Hop for lunch and Mom sat and ate all of her lunch which consited of 2 slices of bacon, scrabbled eggs, a pancake and strawberries, and 3 cups of coffee!
When we got hope she made her bed, rearranged a couple of drawers, and swept her floor. NO Nap! Our dinner was hot dogs, chili, and canalope. She wouldn't eat the hot dog, so I asked her if she wanted cheese instead, so she ate lots of cheese! She finally went to bed around 7:30, but was up by 9pm tinkering around. Saturday brought her up at very early. She got up sometime after 4:30am after Neil got home from work. We fixed her 2 pieces of toast, gave her some fruit, and a cup of coffee....When I got up at 7am, he told me not to be surprised that she was up and that she had taken her Deptends (un-used) and layed them out in neat piles on her bed, along with her un-used adult size baby wipes! She was getting organized! I just went in and picked them all up and moved them back on the chair under her table where she was keeping them, and put the whipes in a ziplock bag. She ate more breakfast and drank another cup of coffee before I headed out to my morning Adult Girl Scout meeting at Starbucks. Got home at 10AM and Vicky our women who is going to come in and take care of mom while I am out of town on trips and vacation. I feel very comfortable with her and feel she will do a wonderful job! I am so happy that I have someone that I can trust to watch my mom while I am gone!!! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
