1. There was a fire in the hotel I'm staying at this morning. The hotel management claims it was merely smoke from a burnt out motor in the basement and that the presence of the fire department was only a precaution. The elevators were apparently not working for some period of time, although I got on one at the 18th floor. Probably not a very good idea, now that I think about it.
