This includes nitpicking about incorrect use of language. Today while watching one of the all-news channels I heard that there was going to be "a literal stampede of cattle owners to switch to organic feed" in light of the mad cow panic. I had this image of cattlemen roaring down the streets of Kansas City, demanding organic feed for their beef-on-the-hoof. To be fair, I also heard security expert Charles Pena from the Cato Institute (I just saw him so his name and affiliation stuck in my mind, otherwise they would have evaporated) talk about a small plane breaching New York's security by "literally flying under the radar", one of the few correct usages of that term I've heard in a long time.
TV: Bob and Rose. This Showtime series, picked up from the British, has only six episodes and I watched three of them last night. It's a gentle story of a gay man (who proclaims that he has been gay from birth, will die gay and have a gay headstone) who falls in love with a woman.
