Dream murkiness level at all-time high

Schools are delayed by two hours today, which is pretty disruptive to everyone's schedules. Parents miss morning meetings and appointments, kids seem grumpier than if they stuck to their regular schedules, and teachers are crabby about class times being squeezed. This morning's culprit is freezing drizzle turning to freezing rain. Last night Rebecca admonished me to get her up at 6:30, even if schools were opening two hours late. Needless to say, when I attempted to wake her up (she's taken to sleeping in the family room again - the sofa bed is bigger than the one in her room, but it's awfully cold down there due to a gigantic expanse of windows) she mumbled something about sleeping for two more hours.

Movies: The 6th Day. I never watched or rented this movie because the reviews always scared me off, but when it appeared on one of the many Turner stations last night, I gave it a chance. I don't watch these science fiction/action/adventure movies expecting a plot or any sort of character definition and my expectations were right on target with this one. I do like seeing what sort of technologies the director is particularly enamored of and what anomalies show up (like signing a contract on paper when everything else in the office is electronic). The one technology I would most want from this movie: not the virtual companion, not the cloning technology, not the living doll (she was way creepy), but the car that can drive itself - lots of time for reading or snoozing while on the way to work.

Dreams: Someone gave me a big bag of photos of my family from when I was little. One of them was a picture of my mother with a pale turquoise background. My father was in the dream too, although he seemed to be playing some supporting uncredited role. I was trying to arrange the photos into an album, but didn't seem to have those little adhesive corner things that you put the photos in. Before that I was in a house in a neighborhood my dream self used to live in. I was in the bedroom closet of a teenage boy who was a friend of one of my daughter's. I informed him that this was the bedroom that had been mine in the house I had lived in. He seemed suitably unimpressed. No hint as to what I was doing rummaging around his closet - maybe looking for skeletons to sell at a yard sale - someone else's skeletons always look more interesting.

In another section of the dream, a country road that had been closed for construction was re-opening. This was a big deal because there was a place along the road that was celebrating Halloween (sort of like those stores that contain Christmas stuff all year long) and needed to bring in customers. There was some reason I couldn't travel this road - maybe because it was headed in the direction I was going.
