2004-04-21 8:54 PM Forecast vs. actuals Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) The presentation today went very well and we got a great reception from the audience of faculty, staff and students. Considering that we were competing with a barbeque and a spring festival, I'm surprised that we had as many attendees as we did.
Let's see how I did in comparing the actual topics we discussed with my predictions: 1. The presentation we'll be making Prediction 25% Actual 5% 2. What's up at work Prediction 25% Actual 10% 3. Gossip (overlaps with #2) Prediction 25% Actual 15% 4. The Apprentice Prediction 10% Actual 15% 5. Our families Prediction 15% Actual 35% 6. Shoes Prediction 10% Actual 5% 7. Other (surgery, true confessions, journal writing, where we grew up, tug boats, Newark, etc.) Prediction 0% Actual 25% Still more than 100%, but we crammed a lot in to the relatively short 4.5 hours it took us to get there and back. This is why I don't participate in sports pools, why my budgets at work never quite match the actuals, and why I fail to understand the importance of balancing a check book. Dreams: I was in the family room of my house (though not my real house) and it was crammed with dark rust-colored furniture in a creepy plushy sort of fabric. Very 1970s. There was way too much furniture in the room, but I was comfortable because I had a sofa with a built-in recliner. I had also bought a couple of sofas for my living room at some discount outlet and one of them turned out to be two pieces of a sectional that would not stay together as one piece. The house was a tiny Cape Cod, jammed with all sorts of junk, very claustrophobia-inducing. Outside the house, an undercover cop in shabby clothes and greasy longish hair walked past a large, parked truck. I don't know how I knew he was undercover, but he looked rather like the skateboarder in the movie Clueless (if that isn't an obscure reference!). It was dark and dull and rainy out. Overall, a very bland and confusing dream. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
