Yesterday we were supposed to take Roxy to a fund-raising walk for the SPCA, but it was raining and miserable out and we opted to stay home instead. I ended up doing piles of both paperwork and laundry. The paperwork was for a variety of purposes - Caitlin's summer camp, forms from Rebecca's school, forms from Caitlin's school, forms from a new allergist I'm going to visit, etc. I am so looking forward to the time when all of this can be online and I don't have to write my name and address and phone number and insurance company time after time. There's no reason you should have to supply the same information multiple times to the same organization.

While looking through the charges on my American Express bill, I found a charge that wasn't mine. It was only for $19.95, but I called them to let them know that my card number might have been stolen. They told me that since the charge had not actually been billed yet, they couldn't do anything about it! This is in contrast to CitiBank, who alerted me to the fact that there was a bogus charge on my card. Now that the Amex bill has been sent I have the pleasure of disputing the charge (for a web domain registration). I wonder if I pay the bill if I own the domain that was paid for. It's probably for a domain name I really don't want to be associated with.

Books: Black-Eyed Suzie by Susan Shaw. Rebecca picked this book up at the library and I'm surprised that she finished it. The story about a 12 year old girl who had been abused and who slid into a deep depression was very disturbing, but also very well-written.

Movies: Donnie Darko. I caught a few minutes of this on Saturday night before I fell asleep. Such a surreal piece, it probably brought on some of the strange dreams I've been having.

Mean Girls. Rebecca and I went to see this last night. She enjoyed it far more than I did - the plot was stock, the characters were stereotypes and wooden, and Tina Fey (who wrote the screenplay) was awful. I asked Rebecca if school was as terrible as it was portrayed in this movie - all cliques and nastiness, and she said it wasn't far off, although it certainly intensifies from middle school to high school.

Dreams: I was staying at Disney World for some work-related conference and ended up in the same hotel room I had been in not long before. I had stashed a bottle of scotch and some other liqueur in the bottom drawer of the nightstand next to the bed. This caused me to conclude two things: the maids did not do a thorough job of cleaning the rooms, and I needed to find out if I could leave a few things stored at the hotel since I was going to be back again periodically. Why I actually needed the scotch is beyond me.
