2005-01-05 5:00 PM The Flavors of Twilight Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) Twilight has always been one of my favorite words. It brings to mind a shade of purplish blue that is only seen in nature, and cannot be replicated by car manufacturers, clothing designers or Proctor and Gamble. I’ve learned that it’s actually broken down into several distinct phases:
Civil twilight corresponds to the Sun being 6° below the horizon Nautical twilight to 12° Astronomical twilight to 18° This morning on the way to work I was behind a courtesy van for one of the local car dealers, presumably trundling an eager employee to their job. As we were waiting at a light, my brain registered that there was something wrong with the writing on the back of the van, which advertised the car dealer. After finding the switch that actually got my brain into cognitive mode instead of just the random pattern recognition setting, I realized that it was the name of the town and it was only one letter shy of the correct spelling (Downington instead of Downingtown). Only the 5th day of the new year and already I’m running out of topics to write about. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
