2006-05-31 10:08 PM HD Journaling Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (0) Am I the only one who thought it was a joke when the local NPR station began touting that their broadcasts were "NOW IN HD-RADIO!"? Only to learn that there really is such a thing, but that you have to (of course) buy a new high definition radio receiver to bask in the benefits of no more static or signal fade or hiss or snap, crackle and pop.
Representative conversation with my 17 year old, who had just learned that economics is called the dismal science: "Mommy, what do you do with a degree in the dismal science?" "Become an economist." "What do economists do?" "Predict stuff." (Note - I am not usually this terse in my responses, but she was asking these questions during the season premiere of Rescue Me, the series which is so wonderful that John Stewart mused to Denis Leary, "It's not possible you are in this show.")
