Okay, well this just sucks SO bad. Just got the news within the past couple of hours that Dennis Lynds died. Dennis and Gayle Lynds were our guests of honor for Left Coast Crime in 2007. Yes, I knew his health was iffy, but things were looking so good and back in January when I'd emailed to ask them, they'd been so pleased to accept.

The last few days have had me in hysterics more than once; I screwed something up BADLY and have gotten it somewhat fixed, thanks to Stu's patience and that of Kate Derie who keeps reassuring me that no, western civilization will go on (ok, no she doesn't, but she's good at calming me down after I fuck up) and I felt like equilibrium had somewhat been restored chez Roscoe. I HATE this. Dennis Lynds was SUCH a nice guy, an author who'd been writing - well the first Dan Fortune came out in the 60s and he was still writing. I just fucking HATE this. Gayle's warmth and enthusiasm has meant a lot to me this year as I've tried dealing with LCC and the various problems that have stood in my way and I'm just REALLY TICKED OFF. And whenever I talked to Gayle, we had such fun - I picked up the habit of calling Dennis "Den" from her and that's how I think of him - in case you're wondering. He shoulda had more time, dammit. He shoulda.
