If you have any interest at all, DO SEE THIS FILM.
"Shut Up and Sing" produced and directed by noted filmmaker Barbara Kopple ("Harlan County, USA" "American Dream") is the story of the controversy over a remark made by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. The comment resulted in the group being essentially banned by country music, from many radio stations as well as gatherings of people to destroy their CDs. Oh yeah, and a death threat made to Maines. Let's hear it for democracy. See it. And I hope if you weren't a Chicks fan before, this will make you a Chicks fan. I know their music might not be to everyone's taste, but I can hope.
