I think the IOC made the stupidest most idiotic decision it's made inn decades when it somehow decided that they would no longer allow two gold medals to be awarded at the Olympic Games, resulting in flaming asshole stupid end results like "jump offs" or tie-breakers that confuse coaches, athletes and observers.
I think, also, that Nastia Liukin deserved gold over He Kexin in her uneven bar routine. Both athletes showed talent. Liukin showed far more range, her details (things like pointed toes and true vertical handstands) were superior and jesus GODS if the IOC doesn't dump this stupid-ass decision, they'll lose even more viewers before Vancouver 2010. Never mind their "let's suck up to the 20 somethings" decision to include BMX biking as the latest trendy Olympic sport. I think that NBC Sports is run by six testosterone-laden 14 year old boys since all they seem to show (at least for us "fuck you you don't matter" west coast viewers) are 37 hours of fucking beach volleyball where women wear skimpier outfits than they do in ANY legit sport, and over on MSNBC every time i've flicked over there it's been macho sport A, boxing or B weightlifting. It's so tiresome, so disgusting and i can name well, let's say at least 5 sports that have been shown for five minutes or less including most archery, most forms of fencing, sailing, many rowing races, but oh yeah, we got to watch miles and miles of the women's marathon. Apparently nothing else was happening. What? They couldn't run their 19th profile of Michael Phelps? How about another beyond embarrassing story like the one about the woman racer married to the football guy, trading cute unscripted (yeah right) barbs about who's faster! Doesn't anyone have a poor blind mother to trot out by now? Oh yeah, and i almost forgot I think that if I ever had any respect for NBC Sports, it died this week. Bob Costas is a sell-out, the pretense that NBC is concentrating less on US athletes is total crap and WHO THE HELL thought it was a good idea to bring in Bela fuckin Karolyi as a knowledgeable commentator? Whoever his hairdresser/make-up consultant is, they should win a gold themselves for the creation of the shiny white twinkly smiling, "golly gee" phoniness of this man. Apparently no one can find another gymnastics coach in the entire United States to comment on the sport. Give. Me. A. Break. Add to that revolting bullshit today's cute - Today' Show stooges Matt Lauer and Al Roker making fun of rhythmic gymnastics. Har-de-har-har. Here, read this. It's by Seattle Times writer Ron Judd. I read this out loud to Stu and we howled. it's reminiscent of some of Dave Barry's better columns. Today's was pretty funny as well. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/ronjudd/ Boy i miss the good old days of cheating French figure skating judges Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
