2008-12-17 3:58 PM Another example of "oh BOY, Im not going to read THAT" Mood: twitchy Read/Post Comments (7) |
I read the paperwork that comes with a review copy only sometimes. I often will read paragraph or so to get the plot summary so I know where on my list this book might fall - that is, do I want to drop everything Right Now and read it, put it with the others or um, put it in the "do not touch, this will contaminate anything!" pile. Okay, the first category exists and covers eight to ten authors while that third is exaggerated big time. I seldom feel that negative about a book. It's been years since I wanted to stomp on one, crush it to bits, throw it against a wall and then put it out inn the street hoping a steam roller might just be passing by. Years.
But I mean there are lots of reasons I don't read stuff, right? You don't read everything you get or open or borrow, right? But here's todays guarantee that I do not want to read the ARC I was just sent. It's the sentence in the press release which states. "[Name of Thriller Here] has the style of a Dean Koontz novel crossed with the violent gore of a Saw movie." Folks, I don't even have a clue what a Saw movie is. I don't want to know. Ever. You can save telling me unless you can make it funny. Which I sort of doubt. But even without knowing, I will never knowing open the cover of a book that is described as having "violent gore". Would you? Who reads that? Knowingly? just thinking about it makes me want to head into the other room and crawl into bed with six or seven fluffy hedgehogs, a sheep or two and as many fluffy bunny books as I can find. Oh and that #$^(*! winter storm? Not a flake of snow has fallen. Yet. The forecast is still there, as is another for a storm Sunday along with temperatures at night in the teens. Whaaaaaa! Bring on the Fluffy Bunnies! Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
