Those of us who still remember and value newspapers as sources of information and news miss that since the papers that are left are mostly full of wire service drivel about celebrity crap. Our paper has tried and failed at it, trying to reach out to younger readers with columns about where to find the best mojito and is sticking the remaining staff with three and four jobs when they really should be doing one. I think I've talkked in the past about the so-called "family run" Seattle Times. Right. Family. Heh-heh. Like the Sopranos are a family. Like the Borgias were a family. Family does not mean good, or homespun values or home-style. It can mean power-hungry and nasty as well. So the hell with that as a selling point.
And while it's going to be a while before I am truly comfortable reading a newspaper on line (which is why I still get the Sunday Times - bleah) I wish I had the option that folks in Connecticut do. If you want to follow politics and government and the election, you're in luck. You have the Connecticut Mirror www.ctmirror.org. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
