2010-10-06 3:20 PM Bouchercon Panel Mood: a wee bit excited Read/Post Comments (1) |
I am very happy to be on a panel at this year's Bouhcercon, the World Mystery Convention and I thank the program organizers more than I can say for giving me a program early in the convention so maybe I won't squeak so much. As i've mentioned before, hotel air gets to me and within three hours, I'm dealing with laryngitis that doesn't leave until I've been back in damp gray lovely Seattle for a few days.
And the grooviest thing is that I'm a panelist not the moderator on this program. That's a bit rare for me; this is maybe the sort of program I'd be moderating in other years. I'm so so happy that Ali Karim will be moderating as he's already come up with some great conversation and we'll be hard-pressed to finish up in the time we have. I've known two of my sister panelists for years and I know that we have differing taste. Add to that a great representative from Australia and I expect we're all going to leave the room scribbling notes like mad. So IF you're at Buchercon Thursday morning and you would like to hear a great discussion, please come by. We'll be in Seacliff A at 10 AM. Here's Ali's GREAT description (he's actually got two programs to wrangle so you should check his blog at ttp://wwwshotsmagcouk.blogspot.com/2010/10/from-london-to-san-francisco.html MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED - our favorite books Ali Karim (M) - Chris Aldrich, Sarah Byrne, Janet Rudolph, Andi Shechter I am as ever flattered to be moderating the book reviewing panel where we will discuss our favourite books, past present and future with key critics of the genre. Remember it was at Bouchercon that word about Stieg Larsson travelled from Europe to America, so you may well discover what the critics reckon will become the big books of 2010.
