2011-07-25 1:11 PM These are a few of my favorite books Read/Post Comments (3) |
My friend Linda L Richards (of January Magazine) recently reposted a meme on Facebook that read like this:
"Top five favorite books, guilty and non-guilty pleasures, just the ones that for one reason or another mean something to you." This came as I was thinking of posting about favorite books since my sister Pat recently sent me a bookbag that i fell on with all sorts of noise: The artwork on the bag (which I am guessing she might have seen at Barnes & Noble?) shows the cover of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. TKAM is my favorite book of all time. This is not a bold statement. I'm sure it's the favorite book for thousands of people like me. I somehow identified strongly with Scout Finch and the actress who portrayed her, brilliantly in the film. It is still my lifelong favorite and I except I will use this bookbag until it falls apart. So. Favorite books. No "top five" necessarily since I always tend to cheat on numbers. But as noted above - guilty or non-guilty pleasures, but ones that "mean something to you". TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Harper Lee BIRD BY BIRD, Anne Lamott CUT TO THE QUICK, Kate Ross A FIELD OF DARKNESS, Cornelia Read SWORDSPOINT, Ellen Kushner ABSENT FRIENDS, SJ Rozan That's my starter list. It might get added to, but those will always stay. I probably should add THE WEE FREE MEN by Terry Pratchett, and several others. So, what are your books?
