2006-01-30 8:18 PM New Blog, Second Short Story Publication Well, this is it. I blog about political stuff elsewhere, but I've been thinking for a long while that it would be good to have a second one to blog about everything else. This seems like as good a time as any to start this up....especially so I have someplace to link my short story, The Star Inside the Swastika, which was just put "in print" (on-line) at DKA (Dragons, Knights and Angels) about an hour ago, where you can read it for free either as html or by downloading the pdf. (My only previous published short story, "How to Light a Cigar," was published in the November issue of Walking Bones Magazine.) While no one who knows me will be surprised that I'm still a bit surprised that one of my stories was accepted at DKA, which advertises itself as "The Magazine of Christian Fantasy and Science Fiction." Anyway, though, a brief plug: the level of efficiency and professionalism at the place are astounding...a link to a printable version of the contract was included in the acceptance e-mail, they sent out the check within 30 days, I got proofs in advance, they bent over backwards to be accommodating about line edits, etc. Really amazing. Any one who has anything that might remotely fit the description (even if, as with "The Star Inside the Swastika," it's a slight stretch, since it did touch on religious subject matter but there was no specifically Christian content or message) should definitely consider submitting there. Oh yeah, and if you want to say nice things about the story (or even nasty things about it), there's a forum topic on the DKA web-site here.
