Well Hurricane Katrina has come and gone. We in Pensacola escaped the worst of the storm and outside of a day and a half without power are no worse for wear.

My heart goes out to those in New Orleans. It is hard not to feel utterly depressed and helpless. It is complete chaos over there. People are suffering, they are dehydrated, starving, delirious. They are looting and starting fires and several people have guns. They are shooting at police and rescue workers, women are being raped, the dead are piling up on the side of
road and after losing everything to the storm - local policemen are turning in their badges, claiming it is not worth losing their lives... (for a full story click here .)

And where was our president while the aftermath went from bad to worse to straight anarchy? Oh that's right, he was on vacation. Don't worry though folks, he was able to fly low over New Orleans today to survey the damage. He probably dumped Air Force One's toilets as he flew over. Why not? It's already a toxic wasteland.

The thing that pisses me off the most though is hearing our "brilliant" leader state in an interview this morning that "no one expected the levee's to break".

What the F#%k?!?!

This boob has been funneling money out of New Orlean's flood control and levee maintenance budget so that he could help fund our Iraq debacle. Never mind that we shouldn't be over there, or that our own country had enough problems before the storm hit or that the New Orleans Levee system is old and outdated.

No, no, no, according to el presidente, it has nothing to do with any of that. It is simply that no one had any time to foresee that the levee's might break, or what could be done about it when they do. Maybe the people who think about stuff like that were too busy constructing the presidential guitar.

Gee I hope that someday, I get to live on the planet the president lives on... It seems like a great place, alot better than planet Earth.

It hurts my brain to think that we call this man our leader.
