Finally, I can add another notch in my belt--Wrigley!!!
Here is the list in chronological order, as it now stands--after seeing the Cubs trounce the Rockies this afternoon! Joe Robbie Candlestick Park Edison Field Fenway Yankee Stade Olympique Vet Stadium Qualcomm Dodger Pac Bell Colliseum Bank One Wrigley Field!!! The seed was planted last night when RM said to me, "I really really want to go see a Cubs game." So I said, well heck, they're in town and they're four blocks from my humble abode...why not? I'd never been there, which I truly believe was a crime. So we walked to Wrigley during the first inning of the game, ticketless. Found a sketchball on the street who wanted forty bucks for standing room only tickets. Talked him down to twenty-five and walked into the park. We spent the third, fourth and fifth innings standing in the back of the first tier, fighting the luxury boxes for a sense (not just visual) of where the ball was going. Saw Burnitz drive in a three-run homer that gave the Cubbies a five-run inning. We moved to an empty spot on one of the beams that line the back of the stadium during the sixth. Out of the blue, a girl hands us third-tier, second-row seats worth over seventy bucks. We can't use them, she says, you have them. So we watched the seventh, eighth and first half of the ninth (no need for the seond, as our boys finished off the Rockies well before that) in what RM called, the best seats he has ever had at a ballgame. Spectacular first baseline view from above...on top of the world, practically. Next stop, Comiskey! Read/Post Comments (7) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
