Bugs Bunny just made me feel like a total ass.
I went online to renew my Six Flags season pass--about two weeks after the deadline for a sweet deal exclusively for coaster park junkies. Already feeling sheepish for my semi-delinquency, I was in no mood to be judged. But there was Bugs, leaning out of his little whole in the ground, grinning at me. Two words, hovering in the bubble over his head: "You ROGUE." And the server was taking its time progressing through the steps to reactivate, so Bugs had ample time to stare me down, oozing with self-satisfaction. And I began to understand why Elmer Fudd and company wanted to ring his little neck... But then again, maybe he's right. I'd like to announce that I am going to defy the parking authority here in this fair capital city as much as I possibly can from now on--I will outwit them with my intelligence and familiarity with their lazy, yet Nazi-like enforcement of parking. Let me explain why, lest you begin to think my arrogance is just a disguise for any underlying stupidity. Would you abide a parking authority that blocks off hundreds of parking spots around the state capitol on lobby day for no other reason than to clean the street? Would you tolerate the repeated practice of ticketing cars with older yet still valid handicap stickers? Fifty-dollar parking tickets? Eighty-dollar parking tickets? How about one $115 dollar ticket for double-parking with your blinkers on for five minutes--which brings on the boot because the limit for unpaid parking tickets is $100? Not granting city residents parking permits and ticketing the crap out of press vehicles while they're covering stories that make the city look good, for a change? While the mayor is inside city hall yammering about something earth-shattering? My personal favorite: limiting the hours during which one can protest their ticket so that no 9-5 working person can make it in on time? This fascist parking authority must be toppled, and I am just the rogue to pull it off. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
