Buffalo Gal

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Showing the house

Anything that includes herding cats should be instantly dismissed as an exercise in futility. Yet our Realtor just called and we'll be showing our house again in the morning.
Face it folks, we're not showing our house. We're showing a much better version of the place we live in. All is calm. All is bright.
Counters gleaming, candles burning, animal fur removed from everything, all three cats exiled in the garage and the dog taking a car ride for the duration of the show. Anyone home at show time disapears with the dog. Listening to people critique your home is like attending your own wake. They may be telling the truth, but you don't want to hear it.
We've lived here for the five years that have seen two high school graduations, a couple of kick ass parties and dozens of wonderful visits from family and friends.
Our Realtor will tell them the front yard has a multi-zoned professional quality irrigation system. She will not tell them it held 40 pink flamingos the morning of my 40th birthday.
Tomorrow's visitors won't see or feel any of the things which have made it our home. The floorplan, location, price and availability are the factors they will compare with other places they see.
You can sell a house, you take the home with you.
