I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Going to Clapton because we can

You know you're life has gotten to a certain place when your guy calls you with the rumor that Clapton is coming to town.
So you find out when and where, poll your best buddies to see who is in for the show, get a great place in the (e)line the morning tickets go on sale, score eight prime seats...
And your daughter volunteers to be the designated driver.
It's been a long road from the Stones stadium concerts of my younger days, but the detours back are fun, and I would argue necessary.
You know those pathetic no-lives who travelled all over the country to see Springsteen when the E-Street band reunited? I'm one of them.
What kind of person would drive six-hours to North Carolina to see a semi-obscure, but otherwise excellent Jersey bar band? Me.
You can't say I'm holding on to a lost youth when four Dave Matthews tickets for Atlanta this summer are sitting on my bulletin board and I'm waiting for Barenaked Ladies to get back from Europe and announce some US dates. BNL, Saffire and John Gorka are at the top of my "still haven't seen but gonna dammit" list. Bruce, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Earl Keen and John Eddie remain in the "so why not see them again... and again."
I don't save ticket stubs, but can return to any one of the hundreds of shows I've seen by just hearing a snippet of a song. Stadium shows or caberet, there is nothing like live music served with passion. I'm going to keep building my mental I-Pod.
"It's better to burn out, than to fade away."
Does anyone know if Neil Young is touring this summer?
