Buffalo Gal

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Wahine Jennine the video star

In keeeping with the family tradition of not doing things traditionally, our daughter Jennine will spend some of our next week in California cast in a music video.
(Hey, it worked for Courtney Cox -- at least Jennine can dance).
The video shoot and surfing lessons planned for the first day come at the wand of her West Coast Fairy Godmother Renee, the San Diego hostess with the mostest. Who needs Disneyland? Renee is the master of Bibbity Bobbity Boo.
She has been one of my favorite people since we worked together 15 years ago, but that Renee would sacrifice most of last weekend to interview potential surfing instructors for my daughter... what a gal. We're only middle-aged if we believe the lies on our driver's license.
What started as a relaxing week getaway has become the Golden State equivalent of "Around the World in 80 Days."
Between the time we arrive on Saturday and leave the following Sunday we're taking in all the sunshine and possibility we can find.
Day one is San Diego and Jen's surfing lesson, day two Rosarito Beach in Mexico. On day three Charlie, the rental convertible and I take an easy trip up the coast to LA, while Renee and Jennine dash to the LA video set. Charlie and I will spend the night at the Beverly Hills Holiday Inn (is that an oxymoron?) and then head up for two nights at the Inn at Sonoma and wine tours while Jen does the Hollywood thing.
Providing Jennine has not already signed up for head shots, she'll catch up with us for a night in San Francisco. The next night will be spent somewhere between San Francisco and San Diego and the last night back in San Diego.
We'll have to get to the airport early the next day, before the convertible turns back into a pumpkin.
