Buffalo Gal
Judi Griggs

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Sleepless in Alexandria

The trip home is always longer than the trip out. This one haas the added challenge of trying to transition from family, friends, adventures and museums to a concentrated chunk of work before I can finish the trip back to St. Simons.
The miles between Buffalo and Alexandria stretched on and on with construction, small towns and winding mountain roads (my very least favorite driving conditions).
We got a late start because the you-pick-em strawberry place wouldn't let us pick until today. No way we could come that close to bringing real strawberries back to our barren and overpriced island without delivering. The strawberries, like the beef on weck and Aunt Judy's shrimp salad, taste like home. That taste grows sweeter with each year away.
I'm thinking now about those tastes and not the project before me. I've promised myself I can't edit or review the hundreds of images I've taken until I deliver the revision on this project.
But I can't help myself from tasting home.
