Buffalo Gal

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. You say it's your birthday

It's no coincidence that hurricane season and birthday season (around here) are concurrent.
At least you have a chance of a miss with a hurricane and most of the losses are insurable. For birthday season you can only hide behind your credit cards and the buffets.
From June to October my husband, both daughters, three of four of the Goodsteins, both my parents, one half of my nieces, my favorite Aunt, my best lunch buddy, my mentor and several good friends celebrate birth anniversaries.
There is near daily cause to buy a gift, plan a party or recover from the last one. Today we hosted George's bowling party, in six days they'll be about 50 people here for Amy's party. Parties have been running almost weekly since June.
My spouse feels like he is now of an age that parties are not necessary, but by late August we've got such a head of steam going we don't know how to not celebrate.
Maybe it's too much accumulated frosting, but I hit the wall today. I keep flipping the calendar forward to November when the hurricanes and birthdays stop.
And the Christmas season begins...
