Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2004-10-17 10:33 AM Men of action Jen, Charlie and I went to see "Team America" Friday night.
I will admit, marionette sex is funny. But discovering we had paid more than $20 to see a movie where the longest sustained laugh involved projectile vomitting and the most repeated pun referred to a collection of Hollywood liberals as Film Actors Guild (FAG - get it -snicker- guffaw)left me annoyed. The rest of the audience, primarily strapping young Georgia boys, loved it. Charlie probably liked it a lot better than he was willing to admit. It's a guy thing. Guys are all about action and that's OK with me. The calamity du jour of sudden unemployment has given me a chance to see there is a clear gender bias when it comes to dealing with challenge. Women want to feel and analyze. Guys want action. Thus, the day it happened Rog stopped by with a six-pack and hysterical stories about his efforts to finish off his daughter's dying hamster. (I haven't lost my mind or compassion, it was funny). Bobby callled and offered to "burn some meat" at his house this weekend saying that he'd even "bought a bottle of wine with a cork" for the occasion. Andy sent links to various jobs and offered to be a New York based reference for us. Steven devoted countless hours to going over my manuscript before I sent it off. Keep in mind this is a book without a single explosion or car crash... and one he would not dream of looking at if it was the only title at the airport newsstand and he had several hours to kill. Women analyze concepts. Guys do stuff. And I am grateful. Viva le difference! Copyright 2004 Judi Griggs Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
