Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2004-10-24 3:20 PM Maybe it's sticking? I'm not one for bumper stickers and my husband's job with the federal government required him to be publicly politcal neutral.
But since this election has really gotten under my skin, I put a "Kerry" sticker on my car in August ... leaving the center backing on it to make it easier to remove after the election. The first time I went to the neighborhood grocery store with the sticker affixed, I couldn't help but notice it was a one and only in a sea of W's. When I came back out with my groceries, it was gone. I tried again a few weeks later for the same set-up and end result. Then we had this quiet little no-notice rearrangement of Homeland Security that personally voided my husband's employment contract and left us without income with four days notice and nationally left us stupidly vulnerable in an area where they are claiming to be bulking up. I put the next sticker on completely, no easy edges to pull off. It's been there for more than a week now. I just got back from the same grocery where I parked between two other Kerry stickers... and counted three more on my way to the door. There were only two measly Ws. Could the Harris Teeter poll be the one that counts? Don't deny me the wishful thinking. These days I need something to believe in.
