Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2005-07-06 7:42 AM Catting about The deal almost broke yesterday when we saw the lease had permission for a cat. One cat. The number of cats most sensible people might possess.
After hauling them 1,000 miles and traumatizing them with Motel 6 and the cottage enroute (that night highlighted by all-night amateur fireworks right outside the window) we were not going to elim-i-cat. We stood our ground while quietly discussing how the hell we'd find another place to live at this point. Huge relief when the amended lease was accepted. Somehow the cats got the message. Silent Bess had taken to howling in the middle of the night for previous three nights, only to be placated if one of us got up and pet her. It went on for hours (and for a brief, bleary-eyed moment I can now admit had her a possible candidate for elimination). With all issues settled and three consecutive nights in one place, last night was magnificently silent. There are new perches on window sills and kitchen cupboard tops with broad new vistas. Bit does a highwire act on the duct work and Bess has reassumed her lap post when I'm on the computer. If everything else could settle so easily.
