Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2005-12-24 3:20 PM No fingerprints My husband, my father and a disportionate share of my cousins are in or retired from law enforcement. I don't have to watch "Law and Order" - I live it... at least the "law" part.
I love a mystery. I love a puzzle of deduction. I'm not crazy about most gimmicky cop shows. I hate the shows where the denouement takes you through the victim's spleen with an alt rock soundtrack. I don't want to see arteries pulse from the inside. If the bullet went in the chest and came out the back, it's fine with me if it keeps the parts in between to itself. Charlie and Jen like all the shows. In this season of her college winter break and his retirement, they are sharing a 24/7 cable crime spree. Our system offers something like 200 channels... three of which aren't showing "CSI." They show "Law and Order." My challenge is to stay otherwise amused in an open loft where the only doors are on the closets, laundry room and bathroom. Each of those spaces have their limits. So I write, read, knit, crochet, bake and otherwise amuse myself co-existing in the common space. I realized how deeply the ignored storylines had sunk into my psyche when I accidentially grabbed a hot pan simultaneously scalding six fingertips -- and my first thought was wondering what I could get away with without fingerprints. The television remote might meet an untimely end... without a trace. Copyright 2005 Judi Griggs Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
