Buffalo Gal Judi Griggs I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. 2006-03-21 10:35 AM Hi Lily, Hi Lily, Hi Lo This is the last of the puppy trilogy. Indulge me.
Lily came home Sunday as if our apartment was the place she knew had been waiting for her. The toys and gifts-- her birthright, and we -- her loyal subjects. Her "puppy packet" from the breeder said she weighed six pounds. This was clearly a typo in that she easily eliminates that much about every three hours. There's infinite energy packed into her very small package. You've seen all the diagrams of elaborate wedges and pulleys believed to be used to construct the Aztec Temples - I believe they simply used Labrador Retriever puppies. Lily totes around a stuffed bear three times her size with a self-satisfied prance. Sure ,she falls a lot, but not because the size of the bear makes her off-balance -- she just doesn't quite know how to consistently use all her feet at the same time yet. Despite all the books and pre-puppy discussion, Charlie can not yet bring himself to crate her during the day -- a decision she fully supports and, in fact, manipulates by sleeping on his feet, on his lap and over his shoulder on the back of the couch. Silly Judi, wasting all that money on a place for Lily to sleep. Good thing "Dad" understands. There is nothing in the world more wonderfully horrible than puppy breath. Lily is a licker and lover. You almost hate to add puppy toothpaste to her Kong. Friends and family are coming over for brunch on Sunday morning -- Lily is hoping we'll be adequately trained in the basics of puppy parent before company arrives. She's got her work cut out for her.
