I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Any day that starts with a warm muffin...

has plenty of potential.
Maybe it's the edge of the hoiday season slipping in or several consecutive weekends of doing good things with good friends or working with a great client group or the Sabres tickets that magically appeared for last night's (7-2 win) game.
Or maybe it is just the enveloping cinnamon smell and the way the warm, buttery pieces crumbled in my fingers.
I feel, dare I say, optimistic.
This isn't easy for me to admit. Expect little and you are rarely disapointed.
There are strong arguments to be made for the thought that anyone over 25 who expects great things isn't really paying attention.
But maybe, just maybe, there are a couple rays of sunshine in which to dance between the clouds..
