Buffalo Gal

I'm a communications professional, writer, cynic, mother, wife and royal pain. The order depends on the day. I returned to my hometown in November 2004 after a couple of decades of heat and hurricanes. I can polish pristine copy, but not here. This is my morning exercise -- 20-minute takes without a net or spellcheck. It's easier than sit ups for me. No guarantee what it will be for you. Weather or not

Intellectually, I know there is nothing I can do about the weather. I grew up in Buffalo. I KNOW weather happens.
But right now I understand why there are rain dances, sun gods and snow fairies.
I have to believe it will not snow on Good Friday. It can't. It won't. And I'll tithe to any diety that can guarentee it.
I heard the rumor of the forecast in the elevator this morning and was too busy when I first arrived to check it (or maybe I already knew and wasn't ready to face reality).
But weather.com says snow.
It's sunny and sweet right now. This is the weather my daughter's Texan fiance should find on his first trip to Buffalo -- pussy willows in bloom, crocuses peaking through, everything washed clean by the winter. Freed from the burden of winter coats, peoples are walking, talking and smiling as if recently emancipated.
This is a good first look at Buffalo. THIS is what Michael should see. This is the come-Easter-weekend plan.
Snow in April plays into every bad cliche about this town. It is not the norm. But it could be Michael's only reality.
There is a picture in my office of a Easter a few years back, three of six people are comfortably wearing sleeveless dresses outdoors. The grass is green and no lips are blue.
Then there's the new bunny suit for the Egg Hunt on Easter Saturday. We just picked it up yesterday. It's not made to be worn with long johns or to shuffle with big floppy feet through the slush.
Plus there's that problem with hiding eggs against a stark white reflective surface.
It can't snow Easter weekend. Whether it takes reverse cloud seeding or a chanting fast - I'll do anything short of human sacrifice.
Realistically -- there are some folks I would consider giving up for the cause...
