Thursday we headed up to Lake Louise. It was about an hour drive to get there. LB was pretty impatient about getting there.

Our first stop was the Lake Louise Gondola-LB was VERY excited. This one was not as spectacular as the one in Banff. It's one of the lifts at the Lake Louise Ski Area, so we had our choice between a standard lift chair and a gondola. We chose the gondola, not wanting to have to rush the little one to the hospital after he squirmed out of the chair!! So up we went. The view was, as seems the norm here, beautiful. We could see all the way across the valley to Lake Louise. Quite impressive. We wandered around at the top for a while and eventually headed back down. The ski lodge is very pretty, it's huge too. While at the top we saw lots of squirrels, and one ran right up to my feet before it realized what it had done and bolted.

After the ski area we headed to the actual lake. Man, what a zoo. Parking was a pain, but we got lucky and found a space pretty easily. We took our lunch and walked down to the lake. We ate lunch at the lake, not a bad place to eat lunch. While we were eating lunch, we were amused by three Japanese girls ambusihg a group of Japanese boys. They hung out near us and then as the boys approached, they asked us to take their pictures and got some of the boys to pose in the picture with them. It was quite amusing.

I love the color of the glacial lakes, such a lovely blueish color. After lunch we went for a walk along the lake until LB pooped out. At which point we headed back to the car and on our way. Moraine lake was only about 12 km from the road we were on, so we took a side trip. Sadly, LB fell asleep before we got there so we couldn't get out and look, but the area was also beautiful- it was also quite busy.

Then we headed back towards the condo. In the interest of spending more time on the road, so that LB could nap longer, we took the parkway back instead of the highway. I was hoping that we might also see more wildlife that way, but it was elusive-as it's been this entire trip. Still, it was a pleasant drive, and quite pretty. I actually stuck to the speed limit for much of it, which meant letting other cars pass us-which was fine. We got rained on intermittently along the drive too. We got back to the condo and LB woke up from his nap. We all headed up to the hot tub for a soak. We could see the storm heading down the valley towards us from the rooftop hot tub. After the soak, we had dinner and then went looking for trains and made a quick trip to the supermarket. Then back to the condo and bedtime for LB.

And now here we are

Things I keep forgetting to put into entries:
Tuesday: Phil saw a black bear near the side of the road on our drive to Athabasca Glacier, the rest of us missed it. That's pretty much all of the large wildlife that we've seen on this trip, we saw some small squirrels various places and some birds, but no large birds either-I expected some hawks or eagles or something, but they seem to be pretty rare.
When I was getting the bike trailer transferred to our car, we walked outside and there was a bit of rainbow waiting for us.
Wednesday: boy is my butt sore-not so much today, but those bike seats weren't very soft and I didn't have my cycling shorts with me either
