A couple of weekends ago, a mom friend invited us all over to learn the basics of how to decorate cakes. She took a class a so many of us were interested that she decided that she'd show us all how it is done.
I went along and had a great time. Nice to get out and just relax and hang out. I even learned some stuff too. We did a crumb coat, then did the frosting coat, then did a border around the bottom and the top (my top was a disaster, but bottom was OK but not great). Then we learned how to do some flowers and some leaves and then there's always just your basic writing. I felt confident enough that I'm going to try to decorate LB's birthday cake. Nothing too fancy, train tracks, and maybe a pond or river, won't look professional, but will look fine, especially for a four year old!! So here are some pics of the decorated cake after we were done. There was no plan of how to decorate it, so I learned how to do something new and just tried it where there was space.
