This is going to take some getting used to, but I think I can handle it.
I was at the new school today, mostly to do paperwork for insurance and that sort of thing. I'll be sharing an office with two other teachers (all of us teaching Physics. The office currently has only two desks, so we need another one. I spoke with the business manager about putting in a work order to get one brought up from wherever they keep them. He referred me to an Administrative Assistant for the paper; she was not in her office. However, her boss (the upper division director-aka Principal) was around so I figured I'd ask him. Well, he just handed me two catalogs and said that they're getting ready to order some other stuff and I should look through and find a suitable desk to order. I was surprised, I figured they'd scrounge something up that they already had. I found a suitable desk and let them know which one it was, but also said that if there's one available on campus it would be just fine as well. As long as I was at it, I asked for a chair and another filing cabinet as well. We'll see what surfaces. But to not have to ask nicely and beg and plead for stuff is a nice change. Hopefully they'll only order if IF they don't already have one otherwise it's just a wasteful spending of $$ which I would find irritating.
