OK, so I kind of fell off of doing entries about the cakes. I did complete all 8 cake classes this summer, but just barely. Here are two more and I'll do another few sometime in the future.
I'm glad I did the classes, very much enjoyed them and look forward to making more cakes and decorating them. So, here are the other cakes: #4 This one was a baby shower cake. It's designed to look like a quilt. For all the pictures of this cake, click here. This was a "tough" cake. It took a fair amount of time to do each of the objects on the top. I liked doing some of them, but some I didn't appreciate much. The other thing this cake did was introduce me to a new tip for doing edges. I really like the tip that makes this look. And you can use it this way or the opposite way (upside down from how it is here). The two tone is made by simply putting both colors side by side in the bag. #5 This one was for a Luau that friends were holding. The cake itself was pineapple (which I thought I wouldn't like, but turned out pretty tasty). The cake had to survive a trip from LA to Big Bear. I stuck it in the freezer overnight before we headed up the hill. It did need some repair work though, the lei on the side kept coming off. The first picture is when I finished it at the class, the second is after the repair work was done in Big Bear. There are only two pictures of the cake.
