We took Goode Co. bbq to movie night at Bill's; everyone brought food and the mix was as varied and delicious as always. A new member of the group, from Serbia, had the most interesting (and opposite from most) views of the film in our discussion afterward. The movie, for me, was sort of like watching Meet the Parents written by Tennessee Williams....a quiet powerful piece likely to be misunderstood by many. I get it, almost painfully, from my own life. Although it's set in North Carolina (sterotyped again), this family could have lived as easily in small town central Texas. It's very much the world I grew up in and escaped from to the big city at 16 years old. I identified with virtually every female role - I've been each one of them at different times in my life, perhaps still am on alternate weekdays. Fabulous performance by Amy Adams. Loved Kate's take on it; so cool to have a real movie critic in our group! This movie is likely to haunt me for awhile..........
