We thought about driving or flying over to see Arenal, one of the several active volcanoes here. Natives say that even though this country is filled with volcanoes (both active and dormant), the Arenal Costa Rica is without a doubt the most picturesque of them all. There was a major eruption in 1968 and it has been constantly active since; “glowing in the night and sending lava, easily visible, flowing down towards the north.”
Instead, looking at investment properties in Tamarindo was the activity of the day. We found some attractive offers on condos. Some are existing and other developments are in the planning stages. One agent tried to convince us to buy a house in the Langosta residential area but we declined. Costa Rica has been the darling of American boomer-investors for several years now so prices have risen accordingly. Yikes.
