Baby Margaret,
Today was your day! You were baptized at your church, Burke Presbyterian, with all your living grandparents present: G-Mommy and David, Gramps and Anne, MaDear, and Grammy and Grandpa Bill. Your two very special (beautiful and brilliant!) aunts, Liz and Christina, joined us in playing your groupies for the day. Your mommy and daddy, of course, beamed throughout the ceremony. I was blessed to provide your baptismal gown, bonnet and shoes for the ceremony. The church picnic followed and allowed us all more time to eat and visit and generally be together to celebrate your very special day. It was wonderful to visit with Gramps and Anne and the girls, who kept saying "It's been way too long! You have to come stay with us!" We reminisced about good times we had in Chicago, the great fun your aunts had when they spent the week with me in Houston, and about Anne's and my Thelma & Louise car trip. Grandpa Bill and I will definitely plan a Chicago trip soon. Enjoyed talking to David and G-Mommy who just had bunion surgery and was walking gingerly. Didn't get much chance to talk to MaDear but she also was delightfully engaged with you and others. What a precious personality you have, baby Meg. You smiled and cooed and allowed yourself to be passed around at the picnic without complaint. And lo! you have just learned to roll over and with minimal coaching from your daddy you showed off your new skill from your spot on Gramps and Anne's blanket under the shade tree. You also have a relatively new fabulous little laugh, especially when your daddy or mommy entertains you. And why shouldn't you be good-natured and generally just precious? Your older sister, Caroline, has been an inspiring model. Today Caroline wanted to be with Grammy. She honored me with her desire to sit with me throughout church and most festivities. She sang Bibbity Bobbity Boop a dozen times, hummed along with the teenage choir, and said, "I love you, Grammy" at least 10 times. Oh, be still my heart. I brought a gift for your sister, Doyle the lamb, complete with his/her own DVD tucked inside a little red backpack so she could also feel special on this, your most important day. Doyle was snuggled inside a purple and white fluffy gift bag, the "fluffy" of which Caroline used to tickle you. Looks like the Robert Dana family is well-nourished in the spirit and destined for a happy and sacred life together. Welcome officially to the family of God, precious Margaret.
