Last night’s holiday party was at the Junior League and quite elegant. Isn’t it interesting how each party has its very own personality? Even if some of the same people are there? I was reading in the paper today about various family customs and traditions. I remember when the boys were growing up we had International Christmas dinners. Each Christmas we prepared food from a different culture/ethnicity. Chinese, Mexican, Italian…great fun. Prowling again through the decoration boxes last night I found a small red and white stocking with the name Buster hand-printed on the white fuzz border in a child’s scroll with a red felt pen...Luke’s white rabbit from years ago. One never knows what one will come across in the family holiday decoration boxes after a decade or two. In our boxes are remnants from each child at various stages. Hand painted wooden ornaments, painted ceramics, colorful pictures, bows drafted by small hands, or the stocking of a long-ago child’s pet….a tad melancholy sometimes, but mostly happy.
