Beautiful day for drive to state capitol to see oldest daughter and family. I swear she gets more beautiful and more fun as the years pass. One cannot feel even remotely “down” when one is around her. If you don’t know her, she is a combination of Goldie Hawn and Lilly Tomlin and if you don’t know who they are, well, just think funny and spontaneous one-liners that never stop. Again we ate (!), opened presents and fully enjoyed each other for the day. Granddaughter is precious and playful, grandson is handsome and almost a teen, and both are so well-mannered. Pops, helping put a new model railroad track together, made comment several times about what a protective and gentle big brother he is. Son-in-law had to work so we missed him. His company has expanded into another state and he’s on the road a bit now. Actually has one crew that works in Houston all week every week working on one of the large main churches downtown and another crew working in Little Rock, all while other crews work in Austin.

Came home to a mailbox filled with more cards but none so wonderful as the one from Virginia bringing new beautiful photos of small missed-so-much (!) granddaughters there. With little effort, there are days I could believe in the old family compound where we all just live in close proximity to help, love and support each other all the time!
