Long rainy drive, passing lots of Kansas license plates heading north, to see grandchildren J&J visiting in neighboring big city. We had so much fun with them at Chuck E Cheese’s playing games and eating pizza. I look at how quickly they are growing up and it’s disconcerting. She is so charming and demure and he is filled with energy and so expressive. Being a grandparent is the coolest thing. We’re here when they’re born and, for those out of town, have just enough exposure to chart (and notice!) their physical, emotional and social growth. We left with new photos, big hugs and looking forward to our next visit together.

Staying here at big cheese hotel on Concierge floor. Storm continuing outside and rain pelting windows. We left for a while to attend a recovery birthday night meeting for one of my best friends who lives here in town. Had a room filled with celebrants from several one-year folks to one 44-year guy ~ great fun and moving stories as always.

So, okay, I didn’t do so well on my food program today. Let’s see, chocolate, pizza, Starbucks…..hmmm…..I’m not expecting perfection but a little progress would be nice! Maybe tomorrow.
