Today was the party and the birthday girl was pretty pampered. She did indeed have a wonderful day with family and friends. She watched her great-granddaughter carefully put the icing and decorations on her cake and her granddaughter light the candles. Presents were opened with exclamations of gratitude and even though she loved all her gifts, I must say I'd vote best gift to be the one my oldest daughter made....a DVD entitled I Love Nana compiling her (oldest daughter's) relationship with my mother (her grandmother) since before her birth (almost four decades!). Daughter worked for weeks making this DVD and, for the rest of us, it was truly a work of art and love. Friends dropped by to bring Mother flowers and at last count she had over 20 birthday cards that arrived in the mail. Mother and I watched as her great-granddaughter and great-grandson colored marbleized Easter eggs under the watchful guiding eye of their mother. It was a wonderful day and I could tell Mother was ready for her nap when Bill took her home. Happy Birthday again, Mom.
