I can't believe I haven't written here in my journal at all this month. whoa. Well, it has been busy but I'm usually better at keepin' up than this. Here is what's been happening over the last 4-5 weeks.
* three aunts have died in three differnt towns; I was priviledged to give the eulogy for one - one required a trip back to central texas where I grew up which allowed for a visit to the historical registry churches my ancestors founded * one cousin by marriage died on a snowmobiling trip in Colorado trying to save his friends...made internet headlines * good friend's husband killed instantly on Interstate 45 on his way to Home Depot...funeral same day as aunt's funeral (the eulogy one) * performed in the church musical for the community, "The Wise Women," ...great fun * completed another intensive training on parental alienation syndrome * visited Lakewood Church with friends one saturday night 'for the experience' * had friends from out of town for a weekend * gave a presentation on substance abuse evaluations to board-certified family law attorneys * worked a LOT of hours at both offices * helped our peacekeeping & social justice committee host the first in our film studies, Dead Man Walking, to highlight issues around the death penalty * one out-of-town wedding * one in-town shower for another friend * Bill started his golf lessons to improve his game (his Christmas gift from me) * attended a program on internet safety for kids by the FBI * watched Atonement, No Country for Old Men, Freida, Welcome Home Roscoe Jones (what a mix!) * celebrated Bill's birthday, our 2nd anniversary, granddaughters' birthday, and valentine's day * made two book club meetings * spent 3-day weekend in Austin with children and grandchildren * attended basketball games for two grandchildren * ash wendesday services and Duerr lecture series * dinner at friends' new home in the suburbs * testified in two trials and one arbitration * completed delegate training at party headquarters * took mother to audiologist (significant loss of hearing) * took mother to internist * began a project going nationwide to send textbooks to the burned out women's college in ramadi, iraq.....trying to refurbish what al-queda looted and destroyed in 2006 when they were in control of the city, trying to get friends to get friends to get friends to send one textbook each * that brings me to today...i voted early this morning with our city's fine mayor standing in line behind me, voting in the booth next to me....his driver/black limo was even behind me leaving the parking lot.........hmm..... I'll try to do better at keeping this up (those of you reading must be bored to tears by now!) Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
