Last week I gave blood to an international Bone Marrow Transplant locator in order to help a Marine from 3/7 who has an unknown disease. He came back from Iraq, (after volunteering to go again vice get out right away) and was going to marry his high school sweetheart (I know, right out of a bad book) when he was diagnosed with total liver failure brought on by a disease that could not be diagnosed and was given two weeks to live. Well, he got an 11th hour transplant, only to need a bone marrow transplant! Well, he's on a new medication, and there is a slight possibility he will no longer need the transplant, but we continue just incase.

Well, the individuals coordinating the effort were non-less than the infantry unit I went to Iraq with. Many old friends. Well, I took 24 (maybe more...) enlisted Marines in the AH-1W Super-Cobra simulator over the course of the day. They absolutely loved it.

I was stuck with 24hr duty on Friday, so I didn't fly on Saturday. (I'm getting my twin engine rating changed so I can fly twin-engine props vice jets). My wife and I took our son and our dog for a walk Saturday that turned into a three-hour jaunt meeting new people in the neighborhood. The irony is coming... So, we meet these people with a 2 year old and a dog. Kids, dogs, and parents... everyone gets along great. After talking for about an hour, it turns out I went to high school with this guy! I played football with him! Now he lives right around the corner. There in lies the irony.

Sunday was just all around productive. Put up fake stained glass to cut down on the afternoon light in the living room, washed the bike, put a new horn on the truck, cleaned up the garage some more (almost done), cleaned the entire house, watched 3 episodes of CSI and even got to play X-Box while everyone else went to sleep.

All in all, it was a good week!
