So... my friend Lisa calls me around 7:00pm last night to say that her car that was stolen close to a month ago has been found. This was fantastic news. So, she really wanted to see what condition the car was in being that it's being housed at a collision place. We decided to take a trip down there.

7:45pm Lisa picks me up (she brought her truck from home) and we ATTEMPT to make our way towards the collision place.

"So, Lisa, where's this place", I ask her

"Union Street", she tells me.

As luck would have it Union street is a few blocks away from my apartment. So, we got on it and I pointed her in the direction of the water. We were cruising down Union Street and hit 3rd Avenue and the street decided to turn into a one way...meaning we couldn't go straight anymore.

7:50pm Lisa hits about every block that has a one way going the wrong direction. We finally get on, I think it was President Street, and take that to the water.

8:05pm We're trying to find Union Street again

8:10pm Found Union Street. Then I chime in:

"Lisa, I thought you said this place was in Williamsburg."

"It is." she replies.

"We're in Redhook." I add.

"Oh." says Lisa.

8:15pm Lisa does a U-Turn in the middle of the Ghetto.

8:20 Lisa realizes the collision place is actually on Union AVENUE

8:21pm Kristin is about to have a nervous breakdown as she continually flips through a multitude of maps, trying to see what streets we're passing as Lisa is driving like a bat out of hell.

8:25pm Kristin's friend Ben calls who sounds identically like Darth Vader between Lisa's driving and the signal changes in driving around all of Brooklyn.

8:40pm Lisa finds Union Avenue!

“Kristin, what intersects Union Avenue?”, Lisa asks me.

“Metropolitan Avenue” I answer

8:55pm Kristin and Lisa wonder whether their going in the right direction towards Williamsburg.

9:15pm Finally in Downtown Williamsburg! We find Bedford Avenue. I finally know where I am.

9:30pm Lisa finds the auto collision place.

9:35pm Some lady starts yelling out of her window about Lisa parking her car in front of her house.

9:40pm Lisa and I run into the punks that run the auto collision place (probably the ones that stole her car in the first place. Then they can charge her parking if she wants her car back - where are the crime stoppers???)

9:47pm Lisa and I leave the place realizing their only open until 5pm. Now atleast we know where their "headquarters" are located.

10:00pm Lisa and I get back in her truck and start to head back...to the BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway)

10:01pm In looking for the signs to the BQE we pass again through downtown Brooklyn.

“I feel like we need to go left.” Lisa says “The bridges are that way”.

“Yeah.” I answer. “I just don’t know.”

So, we go left and it takes us to the water. Then Lisa feels like we’re going towards our favorite place, DUMBO near the Manhattan Bridge and knows how to get us home from there. Meanwhile, to our right is the most amazing view of Manhattan at night. We caught people parking…that was fun. As we think we’re getting closer to the bridge. We pass Bedford Avenue again, then Metropolitan avenue. We’re back in Downtown Brooklyn and the bridge we were heading for was indeed the WILLIAMSBURG Bridge.

10:15pm Oh, look. There’s Bedford Avenue again!

10:25pm Finally signs for the BQE! We’re on our way home.

“Kristin, what’s your exit off the BQE?” Lisa asked me.

“Yeah…don’t know.” I answered

10:35pm Took the exit to Lisa’s house and drove over to mine.

10:45pm Snickers was waiting patiently for his mommy. :)

Phew!
