I had the most fabulous weekend!

On Saturday, I went to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to witness the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. I saw a Samarai sword fight, paid homage to Shakespeare in Shakespeare's garden, and got a sunburn all in one day! I'll put pics on this site if anyone can post any tips on how to use basic html. (I have a serious stupidity when it comes to html so I won't get offended if you use very basic language. :) ) After the festival, my friend Lisa came over and we threw a throughly teriaki marinated london broil on the grill and watched "American Splendor" which I rented and have been itching to see. In short, I didn't enjoy it. I know that's short...Paul Giamatti, roles in "Duets" and "Man on the Moon" amongst others, who I really enjoy did the best he could with the storyline. It was about a comicbook artist who put his life in all of his comics and became famous for it...He didn't become as famous and he couldn't make a full living off his art. He had to keep supporting himself by working as a file clerk. Anyway, it was alright. The cross between the real life characters and the drawings that come to life were interesting...the relationship between the comic book artist and collector was interesting...the ideas of cutting in with the real life comic book artist versus the actor was interesting. An interesting concept, but not thrilling.

Sunday:

9:50am
I arrived in Times Square at a studio on 38th and 8th Avenue and read for a film called "Sunset". The director looked familiar and so did the few actors who showed up early. I was having weird de je vous and it was all before a cup of coffee which made this thinking experience even more enjoyable! Anyway, he had me read for 2 different parts which were both very different so that was a lot of fun. He's planning on casting by the end of the week.

11:00am
I head over to the village for my ninja audition!

12:00pm
I arrive at Starbucks for a quick nibble of protein... a sandwich!

12:30pm
I arrive at the audition where I'm apparently auditioning for the part of "Man". Then, it was explained to me the part isn't gender specific...only the screenwriter is.

12:45pm
I kick some serious booty in a fight routine where I'm fighting myself.

1:15pm
Head back to the subway, BACK to Times Square to Ripley Greer Studios on 37th & 8th for the final audition...for the Michael Chekhov Theater Company's season.

1:45pm
Audition with my Joan of Arc monologue and was told by all three panel members how much they enjoyed my audition.

This round of auditions for the past week ends (hopefully not for long) yesterday with Narrow Journey Productions which is a Christian Theater Group. I'm taking this one, one step at a time. Anyway, the audition went great. Apparently the director's cell phone went off in the middle of it and I didn't hear it...but they commented on my concentration skills. I should hear in the next few days whether I get a callback or not.

In the meantime, I'm going to go see "Sly Fox" tonight with my friend Lisa who saw it years and years ago on Broadway. Look for the review tomorrow!
