What breaks up my day most offen is stepping back and observing life around me. I just happen to have two very unique subway experiences in the last few days.

This past Sunday night, I took the train to the city for some serious boot dancing at Tavern on the Green. On the way there, a bunch of people loaded on the train near Fort Hamilton Parkway and the train as it was seconds ago, loud and boisterous became still and silent. All of these people started signing to another having conversations and I realized how graceful sign language really is. It really requires full communication of the entire body from the soul out. Clearly this group was captivating because the rest of the train couldn't take their eyes off them...as they seemed to be as hypnotized as I was.

Last night I took the subway home from work after an audition which I contemplated the whole way home...my left brain tends to get in the way. Prior to the first 5 trains I took in the past 20 minutes (serious problems on the subway yesterday), I finally was on my way over the Manhattan Bridge. The sun was just starting to go down, I see Ms. Liberty in the distance, get lost in the water as we pass it, and then approach one of my favorite writing places...the bank where Dumbo sits and faces the Manhattan skyline. That made the five trains prior worth the wait. It's nice when a little goodness comes out of a bad day.
